This weekend is the Steel City Comic Con in Monroeville (not far from Pittsburgh maybe 20 minute drive). I ended up going later in the day today because I had to go to work. I walked into the convention, thinking I walked into the dealer’s area and that there was more in different areas of the Monroeville Convention Center. But I was wrong. The entire convention was dealers an then a small section with guests whom you needed to pay in order to get autographs, meaning pay each guest for their autograph.
I am not sure how I feel about that being that I am so used to going to a convention and being able to meet guests without paying an additional fee. Sure there was nice things to see and things from my childhood that I forgot about until I seen them on sale for outlandish prices. Some of us were able to get some pretty awesome things like Toni got a Doctor Who pillow, Nickichu got an awesome Bioshock gun, and Sean got some awesome posters to frame and put on his wall.
While it was not what I was expecting, I did have a lot of fun and was able to meet a lot of new an pretty awesome people. Thats one of the things I love most about conventions, the ability to meet new and awesome people. Making new friends ads to the feel of a convention. I just might go to the next Steel City Comic Con in December.
3 weeks til Otakon!!! Until next time my friends….
