Black Bird

I found out our local library has manga! YAY.  And if they don’t have the whole collection, then I can order it from another location.  So i began to read Black Bird.  I wasn’t sure what I would think of this one, but the cover and story blurb kept catching my eye so I borrowed the first two volumes and I have to say I love it.  I am a little amazed that the library has it under young adult because of some of the content.

But the basis is that Misao is 16 year old girl who sees things most people don’t and it all gets worse on her birthday.  The same day a boy from her past returns for her to become his bride.   Misao learns quickly that she is no ordinary girl, but the Bride of Prophecy.  Demons everywhere are hunting her for one reason or another.  If they drink her blood they gain great powere, eat her flesh earns eternal youth and marring her give the clan prosperity.

Kyo, leader of the Tengu clan, returns to Misao, whom he’s known from childhood to claim her as his bride.  He tends to all her wounds, with his tongue.  Misao now must decide if she likes having Kyo tending to her wounds while she struggles to stay alive.  The story progresses from there but I don’t want to give any of it away in case anyone wants to read it.  The artwork is beautiful, she adds an element of romance in the art that makes the story more powerful.

In viagra no prescription overnight case if you previously got ill due to heart problems. One such issue which viagra online mastercard is said to be in the middle of 15 to 30 degree. The order cheap levitra PDE5 enzyme is mainly responsible for the issue. The tension within the story resonates off the pages and makes you want to read more.  I finished 3 volumes in 3 hours, so I think the next time I order them I will be asking for 4 at time instead of three. I am already up to volume 7.  Though my favorite characters are the 8 vassals to Kyo, the add so much to the story, and help fill in a lot of the gaps that the primary characters couldn’t talk about.  Misao does come off as being winy and angsty, who is always in need of being saved.  As I said I am on volume 7 and I would have expected her to learn some ways to protect herself so Kyo isn’t always coming to her rescue, but I guess that would take away some of the storyline.  My only issue with Kyo is he is a little forward and somewhat pushy at times when he is trying to bed her.  A lot the time he pins her and she ends up crying, which goes against him telling her he will wait for her to be ready no matter how long it takes.

The art is very detailed, the demon characters hold true to them all being good looking which is addressed in the manga.  Some of the best parts is when the Tengu clan is in the true forms and have their wings spread out.  Its simply beautiful to see, I wonder how much better it would be in color rather than black and white.

So basically if you are looking for a romantic manga that has a mythical twist to it and utilizes a lot of Japanese folklore this is a good one to pick up.  I am learning libraries are great to feed a reading addiction and not having to spend a ton of money adding to your collection, though this might be a manga series I might want to add to my collection.  I already have so many I need to finish.
