2013 Tekkoshocon

Well the weekend has come to an end.  The weekend help a great deal of fun and laughter for all of us at Cosplay Kitchen.  There was a great deal of wonderful cosplays this weekend.  Being a part of artist’s alley and a part of the press, we all got to meet a great deal of new wonderful people.  We had a great opportunity to be a member of the press for Tekko which allowed us to talk to as many people as we wanted about the convention.

One of my favorite parts of any anime convention is the masquerade because it the perfect chance to see outstanding cosplays and performances.  This year did not let me down. The Masquerade had numerous well put together skits and cosplays.  I think my favorite skit was with Mario, Luigi, Princess and Bowser.  It was a song skit about Peach not being Bowser princess and her wanting to be with Mario.  It was nicely done and I enjoyed it immensely.  I also enjoyed the Epic Rap Battle between Light from Death Note and Lelouch from Code Geass.  The two gentlemen who performed the skit did an incredible job.

The hall cosplay had plenty of cosplays that seems like it made it hard for the judges to pick to a winner in each category.  The best in show was a simple costume, but it looked fantastic up close.  All the seems were flawless, and just looked very professional.  What some people don’t understand about hall cosplay is that it’s not always about the most elaborate or intricate costume that wins.  Its about what costume looks the best.  All the costumes entered were beautiful and well made, and very impressive.

There were plenty of panels that entertained everyone, the cosplay baggage panel was a smash hit with the audience.  I thoroughly enjoyed the “It’s Morphing Time” panel with Tony Oliver and David Fielding.  Those two are funny and amazing men (keep an eye out for our interview with them).  Alot of the time it isn’t about the panels, and cocnerts, but the people you get to meet throughout the convention.  Last year Tekko debuted a real life RPG: Tekkoshodown. This is where you can be a hero or a monster and battle with one another to earn either armor or experience in order to level your character up.  It was a wonderful way to meet new people.

There are really no words to describe Tekko this past weekend.  I enjoyed it being at the convention center, there was more room and it didn’t seem as cramped.  It allows for the convention to grow in the future which is what we all want to happen in the future right?  Tekko is a convention that has a great community of cosplayers, lolitas, artists, and more.  Tekko is more than a convention, it is a social networking, it is a meeting place for friends.  Next year, bring  your friends!!

Keep an eye out for more about Tekko.
